Skål International Arkansas recognizes tourism and travel leaders

LITTLE ROCK, ARK. (Monday, March 23, 2015) – On March 12, 2015, the Arkansas chapter of Skål International (SI Arkansas) recognized Montine McNulty of the Arkansas Hospitality Association, Mary Beth Ringgold of Cajun’s Wharf and Karen Trevino of the North Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau for excellence in the travel and tourism industries.

McNulty was given the Halsted Award, also known as the “Spirit of Skål” Award. Every year, the SI Arkansas board chooses the person who most exemplifies what a Skål member should be – positive attitude, active service in the club, etc.

The Baker Award, presented to an organization, individual or business for outstanding service to the club or for a long period of service, was given to Cajun’s Wharf and owner Ringgold. The award is not given every year.

Trevino received the Jamison Award, bestowed upon the person who has been a member of SI Arkansas the longest. Named after Charlie Jamison and established in 2011, the award is actually a beer stein engraved with the Skål toast.

The Arkansas chapter currently has 28 active members, five of which are in the Young Skål division for junior executives and tourism students. Membership is open to managers or executives directly involved in tourism management, sales and promotions, in specified travel and tourism businesses, including: transportation, travel and tour operators and agencies, tourism organizations, governments and non-government tourism councils, hotels, convention centers, travel media, etc. For more information about Skål, visit www.Skal.org.
